Chatchaval Wongjon, chairman of the provincial chamber of commerce, said the “Korat Discount” festival would likely to be held in July and offer attractive discounts to shoppers at four major department stores – The Mall Korat, Terminal 21, Central Plaza and Khlung Plaza. With more investment in infrastructure development, Korat had witnessed additional related investment to serve local people and visitors. The province in 2016 welcomed almost 8 million visitors, about 95% of them Thais, he said. Rungthip Bukkhunthod, director of the provincial Tourism Authority of Thailand office, said the number of visitors to Korat had steadily increased, from 5.77 million in 2011 to 7.88 million in 2015.
